About Me

My name is Audrey Visscher; I am a lighting designer, scrapbooker, and all-around artist. I grew up in New Jersey, with my parents and sister and a few cats over the years. I consider myself first and foremost a theatrical lighting designer, with an aptitude for picking up new skills. I have dabbled in ceramic painting, video editing, and lots of paper crafts. At the end of the day though, live performance and theatre has my heart.

My best huzzah is collaboration between artists and audience members alike. We as theatre makers hope to please the patrons in story AND spectacle. Sometimes we get lucky and achieve both!

I am currently an MFA student in the Lighting Department, at University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). I previously worked at Goodspeed Musicals in Connecticut as a spotlight operator and head electrician. I spent two years there, networking, learning, and practicing the craft of theatre.

My undergraduate studies were completed at The University of Rhode Island (URI), where I earned a double major in Theatre Design and Technologies (BFA) and Film Media (BA). This is where my lighting professors, gave me guidance and encouragement to learn and continue learning about lighting.

I aim to continue learning in every way I can. With new lighting technologies coming out regularly, the industry of lights for live entertainment should keep my mind engaged for a long time. I may never stop questioning, creating, and sharing art.
